American Heritage Girls (AHG)

American Heritage Girls is a Christ-centered scouting organization for girls in grades K-12. AHG  began in Cincinnati in 1995 and is
rapidly spreading across the United States. Troop 131, chartered by First Christian Church in 2003, is the first troop in the state of
Tennessee.  The mission of AHG is to "build women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country."

Meetings  begin with the Pledge of Allegiance, recitation of the AHG oath and creed, prayer, and devotions. At AHG meetings, girls are NOT required to leave their Christianity at home!  The troop is currently structured into 6 age-level groups: 4 groups of Tenderfoots: (K, 1, 2, and 3); 1 group of Explorers (grades 4-6); and 1 group of Pioneers/Patriots (grades 7-12). During meetings girls work on various badges within their groups or work on community service projects. This past year we  also enjoyed a Mother/Daughter Sleepover and a Father/Daughter Campout.  Besides weekly meetings, we also have 2-3 awards ceremonies each year.  We had a fantastic one-day camp in June, which was put on for us by a troop from Cincinnati. We had over 50 girls take part in the camp, and all of these girls earned their zoology badge and had a great time!

Boy Scout Program

BHEA's Boy Scouts provides many opportunities for boys to be boys. Activities that our Boy Scouts have enjoyed in the past have been canoeing, backpacking, hiking, camping, rocketry activities, archery and career experiences. Christian standards are maintained at all activities. All BHEA and Boy Scouts of America policies apply to all members. Boy Scouts is open to homeschooled boys age 11-17, whose families are members of BHEA. You can sign up at the Annual Kick-Off.

Cub Scouts

Welcome to Cub Scouting! If you think that Cub Scouting is all hiking and camping, then think again!

Cub Scouting provides adventure and allows boys to use their imaginations while taking part in skits, games, field trips, service projects, outdoor activities, and the list continues! Boys find adventure in exploring the outdoors, learning about nature, and gaining a greater appreciation for our beautiful world.

This past year, our Cub Scouts: had a Cowboy Campfire; conducted a food drive; collected aluminum cans and donated the proceeds to the World Friendship Fund; participated in the Little River Clean Up with the Little River Watershed Association; planted a tree at a Habitat for Humanity house; donated pet food and other items to the Animal Works Shelter; and the Webelos camped overnight with their families in the Smoky Mountains. In Pack 442 there’s always something to do!

In Cub Scouting, boys belong to a small group, called a den, led by den leaders. Boys take part in meaningful and interesting activities with their friends. Dens meet twice a month on Monday afternoons from 1:30-3:00 p.m. The dens are Tigers (1st grade or 7 years old), Wolves (2nd grade or 8 years old), Bears (3rd grade or 9 years old), First Year Webelos (4th grade or 9 years old) and Second Year Webelos (5th grade or 10 years old). Cub Scouts also belong to a pack, which is the larger group, comprised of several dens and led by the Cubmaster. Pack 442 meetings are the first Thursday of the month from 7-8 at Monte Vista Baptist Church in Maryville.
