Enrichment Classes - General Information

Classes for Pre-school through 6th grade are non-credit courses designed to enrich the homeschooling experience. Parents are encouraged to volunteer to teach or lead classes so that we can keep costs low for this program. If you have an idea for a class or would like to volunteer to teach a class, please contact any member of the Enrichment Team (enrichment@bhea.net).

High School Classes are generally for 7th through 12th grade students. These classes are for credit, if needed, and are usually classes that are more difficult to teach at home. Classes at this level generally run for a full year, but some changes are made each January. If you need a class that is not offered, or if you would like to teach a class, please let us know.

Location: Cades Cove Baptist Fellowship

In this course the students will be designing their very own web pages. They will be given simple yet professional software with which to design their site as well as a notebook with information provided in class and resources to enhance their web experience. The very first part of the course will be online safety. Not only the horrid things we hear or read about daily but also some hidden dangers rarely discussed in Internet Safety courses. We will then cover what will and will not be appropriate content and conduct on the shared site. Next the students will be taught what makes some websites better than others and what they can do to get visitors to their pages and keep them coming back. We will then begin the design process with instruction on software usage, uploading files, HTML, CSS, and all the technical jazz. When the class is done each student will have a complete website of their own (sub-domain of the shared site) and be partially responsible for the whole site. Each student will need a working knowledge of computer use. They must have access to a computer with an internet connection they can install software onto. Their parents will have to be willing to participate (by completing a form) acknowledging their part in keeping their child safe while online (I will encourage parents to attend the safety portion) and approve of the content the child wishes to post. I will assure nothing that is inappropriate, illegal, and dangerous (such as detailed personal information) or offensive is allowed on the site.
