Art History
Instructor: Jennifer McIntyre
Description:  This is a 2 semester class using the textbook Short Lessons in Art History by Phyllis Clausen Barker. (I have a few used copies I can sell for $10) There will be weekly assignments from the textbook with minimal reading and then answering questions that will be further discussed in class. Each student will be responsible for researching online and printing out examples for each artist that we study every week. In class we will work on projects that will include Color Theory and Drawing. There will be a handful of “lapbooks” to complete that will cover art vocabulary and Art History time periods. The textbook will need to be purchased along with a three ring binder for handouts and a set of drawing pencils, erasers and drawing pad. Paint supplies are included in the cost of the class.

Drawing
Instructor: Jennifer McIntyre
Description: Students will complete a notebook using various methods and techniques to use with drawing, such as perspective, shading, foreshortening, surface, size, contour lines, and density. A brief introduction to the history of drawing is also included. Supplies needed: 3-ring binder, drawing pencils 2H-6B, white eraser.
Grades: 9th-12th

Art
Instructor: Jennifer McIntyre
Description: Every week we will visit an artist and do a project based on something that we learned about the artist. Projects will cover things like color theory, design, drawing, painting, etc. Each student will keep his/her work in a portfolio. Students will create a display of their own work each session. In the process of creating their displays students will learn about
galleries and how to correctly display their work.
Grades: 1st-6th

World History/ World Literature
Instructor: Julie Cagle
Description: This is a 2 semester survey class studying world history while also reading literature from/about the corresponding time periods. I use the Notgrass Company's Exploring World History curriculum. There is written work each week as well as reading that is discussed in class. The student will also be completing a year-long Nations Project with a partner. This is a college-prep class recommended for 9th grade and up.
Day & Time: Fridays, 9:00-11:00am
Location: 227 Luther Jackson Drive, Maryville
Fee: $75 /semester (2 semester commitment)
Remaining spaces: 2   I have one spot for a girl and one for a boy. I like to keep the class balanced because the students work in pairs on their Nation's Project. Please note that this will be the last year that I will teach the World History/ World Literature class.

Biology I
Instructor: Greg Metcalf
Description: We will be doing Biology using Apologia Exploring Creation with Biology 2nd Edition. In class lessons will focus on difficult concepts/questions from each chapter and reviewing those lesson. Each week we will do lab or other activities designed to reinforce home assignments during the week.
Day & Time: Tuesdays, 4:00-5:30 pm beginning mid-August

Jewelry Making and Design
Instructor: Caroline Roberts
Description: Learn to design and create beautiful jewelry that is uniquely your own! I begin my classes with a short meditation on beauty/jewelry/modesty/treasure from the Scriptures, considering what is beautiful or precious in God's sight. Then I cover some basic design concepts and offer instruction on how to construct the piece we'll be working on. We will create a variety of wearable and useable items including earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, ID tags, and bookmarks. Former students are welcome as we will work on new designs and build on their skills. All materials are covered.
Grades: 4th-adults
Day & Time: Thursdays, 10-11:30
Location: My home—7 minutes south of the Maryville Walmart. Specific directions will be given with registration. Parents may drop off their students.
Fee: $60(returning students $50). If you are bringing a visitor, they may
fully participate in the class for just $7. If finances are an issue, please do not hesitate to talk with me.
