Art

Description:
Every week we will visit an artist and do a project based on
something that we learned about the artist. Projects will cover things like
color theory, design, drawing, painting, etc. Each student will keep his/her
work in a portfolio. Students will create a display of their own work each
session. In the process of creating their displays students will learn about
galleries and how to correctly display their work. Two semester course: No

Drawing I
Instructor: Jennifer McIntyre
Fee: $70/semester
Location/time/day: Wednesdays, 2 p.m. at Foothills Gymnastics
Grades: 7th grade and up
Course Description: Students will complete a notebook using various
methods and techniques to use with drawing, such as perspective,
shading, foreshortening, surface, size, contour lines,
density. A brief introduction to the history of drawing is
also included. $10 supply fee for notebook and copies.

Drawing II
Instructor: Jennifer McIntyre
Fee: $70 a semester
Location/time/day: Wednesdays, 2 p.m. at Foothills Gymnastics
Grades: 7th grade and up;
Course Description: Students will complete a notebook expanding their
study of drawing using various media like ink and colored pencils.
Students will take a look at specific Masters and their style
and how they used drawing. $10 supply fee for notebook and
copies.




World Literature/World Geography

Description of class: 2 high school credits--1 English, 1 Social Studies
Location of class: TBA - Fridays 1:30-3:30

American History/American Literature
Instructor: Julie Cagle
Description of class:This is a high school level class which will give you a credit of English and a credit of American History. I use the Notgrass Company's Exploring America curriculum. We meet once a week to discuss the week's assigned time period. We also spend quite a bit of time learning presidential history. The students will read several novels and short stories during this two-semester course. They will also be responsible for writing a paper each week. This class is reading and writing intensive.
Class location: my home at 227 Luther Jackson Dr. on Fridays from 9-11 am
Cost: $75 /semester- 2 semester commitment

Algebra 1/Math, Algebra 2/Math, & Physics/Science

Description of class: For Algebra 1 & 2, we are using Saxon 3rd editions. Algebra 2 has a pre-requisite of Algebra 1; Physics, we are using Apologia, 2nd edition. Physics has a pre-requisite of Chemistry & basic trigonometry. There will be a lab done in conjunction with class.

General Science
Teacher's Name: Greg Metcalf
Cost: $100 / semester

Class description: We will be doing General Science using Apologia Exploring Creation with General Science 2nd Edition. In class lessons will focus on difficult concepts/questions from each chapter and reviewing those lesson. Each week we will do lab or other activities designed to reinforce home assignments during the week.

Day and time: 4:00 to 5:30 pm, Tuesdays beginning 8/18

Location: These classes will meet at Maryville Evangelical Church
