* BHEA's Annual Field Day will be held at the Heritage High School Track and Field at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 5th. This is the first Monday after the High School Enrichment Classes end. Hopefully, this is late enough in the day that some dads can come for part of the activity, but not so late families have trouble managing dinner or sports or lessons.Cost: Suggested $1 donation to BHEA per child, with $5 family max. This is to recoup the cost of using the facility ($50) for the day, and other minor costs we might incur for necessary equipment.Details: You will need to plan to arrive by 2:45 to register and/or doublecheck your child's pre-registration to ensure they get to participate in their favorite events. Additionally, traffic in and out of the Heritage campus starts getting pretty thick by just after 3:00, so you'll want to be there before that.EVENTS: Pre-registering is important to planning the schedule of events, given that events will be run in age-appropriate groupings. In other words, your Kindergartener won't be competing against a Senior. This also means we can keep most activities running concurrently.Just shoot me an email giving me each event each of your children wish to participate in, name of child, age and grade. If you have a preschooler that you will be bringing, let me know that, as well. They will have access to some activities of their own, but we need to know how many to plan for. Here are the events:25 yard dash (preK and K only)50 yard dash (Elementary)100 meter (grades 5-12)200 meter (grades 5 -12)400 meter (grades 9-12)1 mile400 meter relay (put together your own team or sign up to be assigned to a team)Long jumpBaseball tossFootball tossSoccer kickSack raceThree-legged race (Choose a partner or sign-up to be assigned)Wheelbarrow race (Choose a partner or sign-up to be assigned)Jump Rope ContestHula Hoop ContestTug-o-War
Rain date: The following Monday, May 12th, at the same time if our original date has to be cancelled due to weather.Volunteers: This event needs many volunteers to run efficiently. Please call me at 977-1957 or email info@bhea.net to volunteer.

* We had originally thought we would be able to do re-take photos in the spring, but due to the deadline for our completed yearbook, we do not have the time needed to do that. So, if you would like to have your child's photo included in the yearbook you may submit your own photo. It can be e-mailed to me at homescool87@gmail.com along with your child's name and grade. These need to be turned in NO LATER than April 30th to be included.--LaDonna Covert
* I am now taking sign-ups for my American History/Literature class for the 2008-09 school year. I will be using the Notgrass Exploring America curriculum. This class is open to any BHEA high school students, but it is recommended for juniors and seniors. This class will provide a credit in history and a credit in English. I will hold class from 9-11 am on Friday mornings at my home. I have only 10 slots for a full class and I will give preference to seniors who need American History to graduate. I will have a waiting list for underclassmen to take the class in the 2009-10 if they do not get into the class this year. If you have any questions, please contact me privately at b1cagle@yahoo.com or call me at 379-1546. ~Julie Cagle
* VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 2008 BHEA USED CURRICULUM FAIR: I am now taking names for volunteers for the BHEA Used Curriculum Fair. I will take BHEA members only until May 1st. At that time, if I do not have all the volunteers needed, I will accept volunteers outside BHEA. As a volunteer, you will be able to shop early on Friday, May 23rd at the Volunteer Sale. Those that volunteer to help with the fair & work their full shift will be exempt from the 5% surcharge on books they sell and the 5% on items purchased at the volunteer sale. Any further purchases after the volunteer sale will include the surcharge. There will be no holds on any books. We are also asking you not to purchase books for someone else. These are for your own use. You will be on your honor. When working as a volunteer, you can not have your children with you. You will need to make arrangements for childcare. The success of this fair is dependent on volunteers who can fully concentrate on their duties without distractions. We are also handling other peoples' property & money & can not afford mistakes. The following days & times are available:Friday, May 23 - 9 AM - 5:00 PM (4-5 people)Saturday, May 24 - 9 AM -1:00 PM (8-9 people)Saturday, May 24 - 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (4-5 people)I would prefer people that are experienced with the computer (Microsoft EXCEL) and handling money - counting & giving change, for those particular jobs.
