Blount County Public Library, in partnership with the Blount Home Education Association (BHEA), will offer a Homeschool 101 seminar on Tuesday evening, April 30, at the library in Maryville. Curriculum tables will be available beginning at 5:30 pm in the hallway and seasoned homeschool parents will be available to answer individual questions. The Homeschool 101 formal presentation will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the Sharon Lawson Room.
Homeschool 101 is an informative session for those interested in homeschooling, new homeschoolers, and current homeschoolers who still have questions about curriculum, teaching strategies, or are just new to the area and have questions, including about laws governing homeschools. It is geared to both prospective and new homeschoolers. It will feature a Question and Answer session and provide ample opportunity to chat with current homeschoolers and to view their curriculum.
Topics covered include:
- The benefits of homeschooling.
- Getting started and legally registering to homeschool.
- The varying approaches to homeschooling.
- An introduction to what BHEA offers local homeschoolers in terms of support.
- And much more!
