High School
Welcome to High School with BHEA
Where Homeschoolers Build Lifelong Friendships, Leadership Skills, and Unforgettable Memories
If you're a parent considering homeschooling your high schooler or already doing so and seeking a thriving, connected community—welcome! Blount Home Education Association (BHEA) has one of the most active, inclusive, and dynamic homeschool high school groups in East Tennessee.
With a couple hundred high school students currently involved, our high schoolers are anything but isolated. Whether your student is social, studious, artistic, athletic, adventurous, or all of the above, BHEA offers a place for them to belong.
Monthly Activities
Our High School Coordinator and Student Council work hard to plan one exciting event each month, from September through April. Events are thoughtfully chosen to appeal to a wide variety of interests and comfort levels.
Past activities include:
-
Bowling nights
-
Bonfires and picnics
-
Hiking trips
-
Game nights
-
Ropes course at Maryville College
-
Laser tag
-
Corn maze adventures
-
Seasonal parties and themed dances
We culminate the year with our Spring Formal — a beautifully organized, high-energy event designed especially for homeschooled students in grades 9-12.
Community Service Projects
BHEA students don't just have fun—they make a difference. Service opportunities allow teens to give back, build character, and fulfill service hours for awards and scholarships. Past projects include:
-
Habitat for Humanity
-
Blount County Animal Shelter
-
Second Harvest Food Bank
-
Blessing Bags & community outreach projects
These projects not only help our community, but also help students bond through shared purpose and meaningful experiences.
Graduation Ceremony
BHEA proudly offers a professionally planned graduation ceremony, open to any student meeting our participation requirements. This event is an encouraging and celebratory milestone where students are honored with dignity and joy.
Clubs, Leadership, and More
High schoolers have opportunities to:
-
Run for Student Council
-
Join service clubs and honor societies (like Eta Sigma Alpha)
-
Participate in Drama Club and stage performances
-
Dive into creativity with Musicians' Club, Comic Book Club, or Anime Club
-
Start a new club based on personal interests—just a few students and a parent sponsor can bring it to life!
Parents, We Need You!
Our high school program is strong because of parent volunteers who say "yes." Whether you're great at planning, chaperoning, organizing, or simply cheering students on—you can make a difference.
We invite current parents to:
-
Start new clubs based on student interests
-
Volunteer to help with monthly events or coordinate service opportunities
-
Encourage your student to participate and lead
